Privacy and data handling
What data Loquira processes during a session, where it is stored, and what is retained after a session ends.
Loquira processes live audio, produces translated text, and stores transcripts. This document explains what happens to your data at each step, what we keep, and what controls you have.
This is not legal advice. For contractual terms, refer to the Data Processing Agreement (DPA) available in your account settings.
What happens to your audio
When you speak in a session, your voice is streamed to the translation system, converted to text, translated, and turned back into speech in your audience’s languages.
What we transmit. Your voice travels over an encrypted connection. It’s compressed to use minimal bandwidth while keeping the quality needed for accurate translation.
What we store. Your audio is processed in real time and then discarded. We do not record, save, or archive the raw audio at any point. No one — not even our team — can listen to your session after it ends.
What we log. We keep connection metadata (session ID, duration, approximate quality) to monitor service health. This log contains no audio, no voice samples, and no identifying speaker characteristics.
Your transcripts
The text produced during your session — your original words and the translations — is saved to your account.
Where transcripts live. Transcripts are stored encrypted in a database hosted in the European Union. See Transcripts and exports for what’s included in a transcript and how to download it.
Who can see them. Only you (the session creator) and team members you’ve authorised can access your transcripts. Loquira employees never access customer transcripts unless you explicitly request support and grant permission — and such access is logged and audited.
You control them. Download or delete your transcripts at any time. Deletion is permanent.
Listeners stay anonymous
Listeners don’t create accounts. They join with a code or QR — no name, no email, no registration.
What we see from a listener:
- Which language they selected
- When they joined and left (for attendance tracking)
- Connection quality (for monitoring)
What we never collect from listeners:
- No IP addresses stored
- No cookies or tracking tokens
- No device fingerprinting
The session creator can see how many people listened and which languages were chosen — but no personally identifiable information about any individual listener.
Data residency
All data is stored in the European Union. Enterprise customers running on their own infrastructure keep everything on their own servers — nothing transits Loquira’s cloud.
Encryption
| State | Protection |
|---|---|
| While data moves | TLS 1.3 encryption |
| While data is stored | AES-256 encryption |
| Backups | AES-256, stored separately |
Encryption keys are managed through a hardware-backed key management service. Loquira does not hold customer encryption keys.
Deleting and exporting your data
Transcripts can be exported as a ZIP of text files at any time. Deletion from the session dashboard takes effect within 24 hours. For advice on reviewing and cleaning up transcripts before archiving, see Curate transcripts after the event.
Full account deletion — including all transcripts, session history, and personal data — can be requested from your account settings. Processing takes up to 30 days, with a confirmation email before finalisation.
Compliance
Loquira’s practices align with:
- GDPR. Data processed in the EU or transferred under Standard Contractual Clauses. Data Protection Agreement available on request.
- CCPA. California residents may request disclosure of personal information collected. We do not sell personal information.
- SOC 2. Annual audit in progress. Type II report expected Q4 2026.
Enterprise customers with additional compliance requirements are welcome to contact us for a review of specific controls.
